New semester, record-breaking numbers!

Mar 2 2017
On 27 February, the new semester started at IJF Academy. The Level 1 Instructor Course has the most enrolled students in the history of the Academy.

382 students registered for the course representing 36 national member federation of IJF. It is the first time that the Croatian Judo Federation participates in the educational program of the Academy, and it’s also the first time that students can study in Croatian language.

The students enrolled in this semester have various backgrounds: their difference in their geographic location, current profession, age and gender makes them a very unique group of people united by one common love: judo. Mr. Babacar Wade, the president of the Senegal Judo Federation took up the Level 1 course, along with Cuban Olympic silver medalist in Beijing, Ms. Anaysi Hernández.

Mr. Envic Galea, director of the IJF Academy is pleased with the openness of national federations to be part of the Academy’s programmes:

“In this semester we have students from all our five continents, it is a good start for the year. We are now seeing more national federations taking our coach development structure as their national coach formation. This is an encouragement to us to keep improving the quality of our services. Soon we will launch a new programme of 12 modules in sport management to help our federations and their clubs improve their administration and make judo even more popular.

We are grateful for the support of our president, Mr. Marius Vizer who, in his vision for the development of judo worldwide, saw that an investment in top quality professional education of our coaches, through the Academy, would pay the best interest to our sport.”

Those national federations, which missed joining this semester, can apply to join in the next one starting in August.

For the students starting now, the Academy management wishes good luck!
